- Is there any easy way to figure out if a problem with disconnects is
- caused by a) the modem b) the phone line c) bursts of line noise from
- somewhere inbetween me and where I'm calling? I'm using an Intel 400,
- and about 40% of my 14.4 calls are ended by disconnects. (Few problems
- at 2400). I turned off error correction, and that did make it clear
- that my disconnects were accompanied usually by a half screen of line
- noise (Is sensitivity to line noise just a matter of how the modem
- reacts to line noise, or can it also be a matter of how much noise on
- the line translates into would-be screen garbage (not seen usually
- because of error correction)?) But I'm at a loss as how to proceed now,
- so if anybody has any ideas I'd appreciate some advice.

- Thanks,
