- I don't know why I'm defending AT&T, but here goes... :-)
-
- The model which PC Magazine reviewed (March 17, 1992) was the Comsphere 3810.
- This is one AT&T's high end modems. It is better compared with the Digicom
- 9624E+. It has 4 wire leased line capability, an LCD front panel, and other
- high end features (like automatic upgrades through downloads over the phone
- line). The review gives a list price of $1595. This was the only modem in
- the review which "worked for us every time over every line and with every
- other modem".
-
- Here are some prices I wrote
- down, though unfortunately I can't remember the name of the company:
-
- Comsphere 3810 $1195
- Comsphere 3820 $995 no 4 wire
- Comsphere 3830 $795 no lcd front, no 4 wire
-
- It is possible that these are new list prices, given that the review is a
- year old. If anyone wants more info on AT&T modems, they should call
- 800-482-3333. They can also send info on the AT&T Dataport series.
-
- Another possible reason for the high cost is the high demand for flash eproms.
- Not too long ago they were on allocation.
-
-
- Now a couple of questions for you Wolfgang,
-
- Can you please confirm that the Scout+ will not operate over 2 wire leased
- lines.
-
- Is the 9264LE+ FCC Class B approved?
-
- Thanks,

- Disclaimer: I don't work for AT&T, I'm just considering purchasing one of
- their modems.
