  11. The Palo Alto Cable COOP just raised the subscription price yet once
  12. again. Its now about $26/month for about 70 cable television multimedia
  13. channels. One reason given was 'a lack of new subscribers'. The user 
  14. base expanded by 1% last year, or 200 accounts.

  16. Netcom Online Communications Service charges about $19/month and I
  17. estimate that it expanded in the Palo Alto area by about 350 new
  18. accounts, or a rate of 200%. Currently about 3000 text-based channels
  19. (newsgroups) are offered.
