  15.    "PEP" stands for "Packetized Ensemble Protocol", the transport protocol 
  16. used with Telebit's proprietary multicarrier modulation technique ("DAMQAM": 
  17. Dynamically Adaptive Multicarrier Quadrature Amplitude Modulation).  Quite 
  18. often "PEP" is used where "DAMQAM" would be technically correct but, in the 
  19. case of Telebit modems, the two work hand in hand.
