- A misunderstanding that had slowed the American National Standards
- Institute's (ANSI) effort to create a standard, open XBase language has
- been resolved. Participating vendors, including Borland International
- Inc., had been told they would lose copyright protection on materials
- submitted to the committee -- which brought sumbissions to a halt.
- ANSI now says companies retain the rights to materials they submit.
- As a result, Borland has agreed to submit its dBase Language Reference
- Manual, which may be used as a "base document" that defines the XBase
- standard.
