  13. Wouldn't more people call your BBS if they knew more about it?  Do you 
  14. want more people calling your BBS?

  16. Long lists of BBSs aren't much good, since the name usually doesn't 
  17. tell you much.  How do you find a good board for Clipper or fonts or 
  18. whatever?

  20. That's the idea behind the BBS Field Guide, a comprehensive database
  21. of Bulletin Board Systems.  Systems are described in detail, with an 
  22. index of keywords lets users quickly find interesting BBSs.  
  23.  
  24. THERE'S NO CHARGE OR OBLIGATION FOR BEING LISTED.

  26. I hope someday this will be published in book format.  In the 
  27. meantime, I'm going to put the questionnaires into a database on "PC 
  28. GrabDisc", a monthly CD-ROM disc I publish.  I retain the copyright to 
  29. the database, but people are welcome to run it with TDBS or as a door 
  30. with whatever --- the data is in ordinary dBASE format, so lots of 
  31. programs should be able to read it.

  33. There's an accompanying Clipper program that will let people search by 
  34. state, area code, etc.  "The basics" and section 2 are displayed on 
  35. screen, and the user can move back and forth.  Right now the output to 
  36. file is only ASCII text, but I'd like to add support for QMODEM, 
  37. Procomm, Telix, etc. dialing directories.

  39. The only reasonable way to do something like this database is on CD-
  40. ROM.  There's just too much text to move around any other way.  
  41. I welcome suggestions on other information you'd like to see included.
