- Well Larry, just for you I braved my 2400 connection to post this
- little tidbit. It was posted in a message from Phil Becker about TIMS 1.1,
- which is going to be released on Feb 1. Here is the message in it's
- entirety:

- DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

-
- I have just posted a file TIMSTECH.DOC in the TIMS file download area.
- It is
- a tech note on how to convert a TIMS 1.0/SEAdog setup to TIMS 1.1. I hope it
- will answer most of the questions that arise about how to do this
- conversion.
- It may also be of help to those of you who are using a mailer other than
- SEAdog
- with TIMS 1.0.
-
- Remember, with TIMS 1.1 you will not need any other mailer. TIMS 1.1 dials
- out as well as receives mail. It is fully compatible with all other
- mailers in
- FidoNet, so you won't need to have a "politically correct" mailer handy for
- certain nodes any longer. It even does high-speed MACFLOW transfers to
- "kitten" systems on a macintosh (about 25% faster than TIMS 1.0 did).
-
- TIMS 1.1 can also scan Net Mail and toss both Net Mail and Echomail while
- TBBS is up and running. Yes it will toss to topics! Yes it will send and
- receive enclosed files in net mail! It does not compress or de-compress
- packets online, so you will either need to set up a "nanny machine" via a LAN
- to do real time packing/routing or have your hub send your echomail in
- uncompressed packets if you want to toss echomail while TBBS is up.
-
- Ask the beta testers (if they've recovered from the shock of seing the real
- TIMS 1.1 product in action recently) and you'll find out that TIMS 1.1 is the
- most advanced FidoNet mailer product anywhere. The list of things it can do
- that no other mailer software can do is much too long for a message like this,
- but you'll be proud to run it and have fun telling other non-TBBS FidoNet
- sysops what your system can do once you install TIMS 1.1.
-
- TIMS 1.1 is on schedule and WILL SHIP FEB 1, 1993. If you haven't gotten
- your upgrade order in yet, now is the time. Don't be left out of the fun!
-
- Again, the file is "TIMSTECH.DOC" in the TIMS file download area.
