Prof. Dr. A Min Tjoa,
Institute of Statistics and Computer Science,
Department of Information Systems,
University of Vienna,

Manuscripts must be typed double space entirely, including the summary, the list of references, and legends, on one side of the page only, and must be complete, with a brief summary, AMS subject classifications (primary, secondary), and suitable keywords and phrases on the title page. On the title page, below the title the name(s) and residence(s) of the author(s) should be given, while the full name(s) (with official title) and exact address(es) (with institute or company affiliation) should appear the li
st of references at the end of the article. Approximate placement of illustrations and tables should be indicated in the margins of the manuscript. Legends to illustrations, the illustrations themselves, and tables should accompany the manuscript on separate sheets. Equations, illustrations, tables, and footnotes should be numbered consecutively throughout the article. References should be numbered consecutively and cinted in the text by the arabic numeral in brackets.
Equations should be typewritten whenever possible with special typefaces (alphabets) marked by underlining in color. If there is no difference in size, special attention should be given to the placing of subscripts and superscripts so that they are recognizable as such. Formulas in the text should preferably be written in the "linear" form (e.g. (a+b)/c) ). Equations should be numbered sequentially with arabic numerals in parentheses on the righthand side of the page. In the text they are cited simply by t
he arabic numeral in parentheses, e.g.; (7); the form Equation (7) or Equations (7) and (8) should be used only at the beginning of a sentence.
Illustrations.
The number of illustrations should be kept to the minimum required for clarification of the text. The illustrations, each mounted on a separate sheet, should accompany the manuscript. Clear and exact line drawings are requested. Photographs should be on glossy paper. The maximum space available for an illustration in one page is 122 x 193 mm. After final reduction the lettering should be 2 mm high. Colored illustrations can be printed only if paid for by the author. Illustrations as well as tables should b
e numbered consecutively throughout the article.
Programs and parts of programs must be submitted in such form as to permit direct photographic reproduction.
References.
References should be numbered consecutively and listed at the end of the article. They should be arranged in the following form:
Books: name of author, title of book, volume and edition, publisher, place of publication, year of publication, e.g.:
Dano, S.: Linear programming in industry, 2nd edn. Springer, Wien (1963)
Nowacki, H., Reese, D.: Design and fairing of ship surfaces. In: Barnhill, R., Boehm, W., (eds.): Surfaces in computer aided geometric design. North-Holland, Amsterdam, pp. 121-134 (1982)
Journals: name of author, title of article, abbreviated title of the journal, volume number, first and last page numbers, year, e.g.:
Gear, C.W.: Differential-algebraic equation index transformations. SIAM J.
Sci.Stat. Comp. 9:39-47 (1988)
In the text, references should be cited ty their corresponding number in brackets.
Proofs.
Page proofs will be sent to the author in duplicate. They should be corrected and one copy returned to the publisher as soon as possible. Misprints only should be corrected, and no changes of contents or style should be made in the proofs. Costs caused by changes or revision in the proofs - other than those resulting from printer's errors-exceeding 10 per cent of the typesetting costs will be charged to the author.
Offprints.
Authors receive 50 free offprints of their articles. Orders for additional offprints against payment should be given when returning the proofs. Order form and price list will be sent enclosed with the proofs.
