- Perhaps not, but I think the store might be within their rights to refuse
- to accept your check if you refuse to give them your phone number. That
- might be a bad business practice but I don't think it's illegal. I hate
- giving out my home phone number because I am convinced that it goes onto
- more junk calling lists every time I give it to a business. So I just
- give them my second line number, which is registered in my name if anyone
- ever checked, but is connected only to a modem.
