- "Homeless" doesn't mean you can't afford clothes. It means without
- a home. People do donate leather jackets and Air Jordans to shelters,
- he could have gotten them there for all we know.
-
- What would you rather see, a wino in tattered clothes? There are homeless
- who just can't find a job and can't afford rent, and those that are
- what most people would call "bums" - drunk all day and not caring.
-
- If the guy who wants a chance to feed his family or is single and
- saves 8 months to buy the $200 shoes is actually getting the money
- from selling the paper, more power to him. Hey, if he lived in
- a Mercedes I'd be happy for him. Someone has given him a chance to
- work instead of beg, and he's taking advantage of it. You can't say
- he's not trying. It's a heck of a lot easier to buy 1 pair of $200
- shoes than pay $500+ in rent every month. No matter how many months
- he works, he can eventually save up $200. He just can't save $500
- by the end of the month (plus everything else).
-
- I've read the paper, and it's actually pretty good. Almost like
- the Reader. They aren't selling junk, and they're trying to work
- and get on their feet.
-
- But, this is all speculation. Why don't you ask the guy where he
- got the shoes? Tell him you want to buy a pair like those if you're
- bashful. Me, I'd just say "How'd ya get the $'s for those Air Jordans?"
