- before OS/2 I used DOS 5.0, QEMM, DESQview and tweaked and tweaked to
- maximize memory. When I installed OS/2 I just stipulated that I
- wanted DOS=HIGH,UMB and that I wanted 4dos as my command shell, and
- didn't tweak at all. This is the memory report I just got in a basic
- DOS window:

- 655,360 bytes total DOS RAM
- 644,144 bytes free

- and that's without restricting the video to mono mode (do that and you
- get quite a bit more memory, like VIDRAM in QEMM or other utilities
- that let you use those video addresses).
