- A sincere thank you to the many people who contacted me directly regarding my
- interest in returning to Hong Kong to work. I thought I'd quickly summarize
- what I learned to help others out with their job searches....
-
- I received a few names from people, as I had requested, and learned something
- about where to look on my own in the future:
-
- 1) Check the subscriptionlist of mailing lists you're active in, there may be
- a few friendly "lurkers" you have something in common with and can contact.
-
- 2) Check your local university for visiting professors from places you're
- interested in.
-
- 3) Check with youralumni office for graduates from your program who are now
- living in your target area (In my case, foreign students from Hong Kong who
- had returned home) - an idea given by a development officer of course ;-)
-
- I also received other types advice, including friendly notes from people
- recommending other places my skills would be welcomed (Got to keep an open
- mind.) And established resources for people looking for jobs:
-
- There is an "Institute on International Education" in NY that has lists of
- opportunities for work in Hong Kong, and if your interests lie overseas, it
- may be able to help you as well!
-
- Thank you again to all who wrote me. Please know that I am following up on
- your generous leads (even if you don't hear from me directly). And I hope
- this summary of your "pearls of wisdom" are helpful for others.
