  22. The Interpersonal Computing and Technology List (IPCT-L) was
  23. created February 1992 by the Center for Teaching and Technology (CTT)
  24. at the Academic Computer Center, Georgetown University.  A special
  25. effort will be made to promote an international forum for
  26. pedagogical issues important to higher education involving
  27. teaching with technology, and especially with connectivity and
  28. networking.
  29.  
  30. A goal is to create a forum for the discussion of computing and
  31. other technology that can be used to promote learning. Topics for
  32. discussion may involve teaching and training; collaboration;
  33. partnerships among learners, faculty or teachers, and other
  34. interested persons in the educational community; and research that
  35. reflect these interests.  The decade of the 1980s was characterized
  36. by the _personal_ computer, and development of individual product-
  37. ivity. The focus of the IPCT-L, as we move toward the 21st century,
  38. is that _interpersonal_ computing and technology will tie persons
  39. together throughout the world -- to share ideas and solve problems.

  41. Besides creating a forum for the topics of interest noted above,
  42. another interest of the CTT is to publish a scholarly, refereed
  43. international journal. To that end, the IPCT-L will develop a
  44. subscription list and act as a resource to develop the community
  45. necessary to review articles and recommend editorial policies as
  46. these publishing goals move forward.
