- You're right, Phil; the main incentive for the Japanese companies moving
- into the luxury car market is the "voluntary" import restrictions: if
- you've agreed to sell only N cars, it makes sense to sell N expensive
- cars. I'm just telling people to shop around and not assume Japanese
- cars are better (five years ago, that assumption might have been a good
- one); my impression is that they've slipped quite a bit. For example,
- I'm very happy with my 1987 Acura Integra; in that year it was an
- outstanding buy. Would a 1993 Integra be such a good deal? I don't think
- so; I think, from what I read, that Acura quality has slipped a good deal
- and that other companies (Japanese AND American) may give you more for the
- money.
