- Hi again,
-
- I just wanted to share some interesting facts for TS folks who might be
- intersted...
-
- 1. There is work being done on a new type of breast implant that uses of
- all things... peanut oil! The new implant is totally safe (peanut oil is
- nontoxic, steril, and can be readily absorbed by the body in case of a
- leak). The other big advantage is that it doesn't obscure normal breast
- tissue during a mammogram... making it nearly ideal for the application.
- Talk to your doctors about the use of such prosthetics, it could save
- you serious misery in the long term.
-
- 2. For pre or post op TS folks who have scars that they want to remove...
- there is a new dermabrasion technique that appears to be quite succesful at
- removing scars. It seems most effective for scars 4 weeks to 6 months old,
- but seems to do a very nice job on significant scars many years old. If you
- have an interest, you may want to ask a plastic surgeon.
-
- 3. Don't forget that electrolysis is not for everybody... people with skin
- of olive complexion (particularly mediteranean decent) may have problems
- with electrolysis. I've read that skin with a "low melting point" seems
- to be the issue. By the way does anyone know if this includes Asians as
- a group, I would be most interested???
-
- 4. During that period after beginning hormone therapy, but before the big
- plunge, where you may or may not have yet made a public disclosure of your
- intent... a sports bra (you know the "Y" back kind), about 1-2 sizes small
- combined with really baggy tops, can virtually prevent any embarrasing
- situations.
-
- Now I have some questions...
-
- 1. How does female hormone therapy effect mail pattern baldness???
-
- 2. What is involved in laryngial cartilidge surgery (removal of the adams
- apple), and how much does it cost???
-
- 3. About how long after the beginning of hormone therapy, do female
- secondary sex characteristics become evident??? physical??? emotional???
- psychological???
-
- THAX Rita, you don't know how much I appreciate your contact, Thank you
- all...
-
- Marie :-)
