- I've got the "If it's not one it's the other syndrome". The XLT special
- is running great but I'm having a problem with the old Arctic Cat that I
- can't seem to nail. The sled is a 1981 El tigre 5000. This is a 500cc
- twin free air. The problem seems to happen while trail riding at slow
- to moderate speeds. I lose power (bogs). With the trottle pinned the
- track won't even turn. I can't give RPM because the sled isn't equipped
- with one. When this situation occurs there is always a air bubble in
- the line between the gas tank and the fuel filter. I disconnect the
- hose at the filter and blow air back into the tank. The fuel will then
- start pouring out of the line as I reconnect it to the filter. I have
- cleaned out the gas tank. Replaced all the fuel lines and installed new
- hose clamps at all connections. The only thing I can think of is
- perhaps replacing the diaphrams in the fuel pump. I haven't taken it
- apart to look yet. Does this sound feasible? Any ideas?
- I should mention that after blowing back into the tank and
- reconnecting the hose the sled will run great for another 5 miles until
- the same problem occurs.
