- : Yes is awesome.. Also included are the following(at least)
- : 90215 awesome!
- : The Yes album their first.. really good.
- ^^^^
- Third actually after YES and Time and a Word
- (YESterdays has about half of each of these albums plus
- their cover of Paul Simon's 'America')
-
- : Big Generator ok...
-
- : Not yes, but close enough Anderson, Buford, Wakemon, and Howe. GOOD!
-
- ..Closer than 90125 or Big G! (and Drama for that matter...)
- The only reason that this was not called YES was the fact that Squire/Atlantic
- own the name.
-
- : they have a couple compilitations too....
- I'm a purist, most of the best records [1969-1977] need to be listened to in
- their own context, Particularly TFTO (see below)
-
- : Drama is without anderson.. and its still good? Hmmm maybe I should get it and
- : see.....
-
- Don't bother with it IMHO. Anderson and Wakeman replaced by THE BUGGLEs
- (from "Video Killed the Radio Star" fame). This was the last YES tour I saw
- and somehow a guy wearing oversized sunglasses singing "Yours is No Disgrace" was
- a disgusting irony at best.
-
- My recomendations... [chronological order]
-
- Time and a Word [ shorter, more pop tunes, some cover material ]
- Yes Album [ the beginning of the sound YES is best known for ...
- probably most interesting Squire record ]
- Fragile [ Best if you like Bruford ]
- Close to the Edge [ overall best and shows Wakeman in his prime]
- Tales from Topographic Oceans [ Steve Howe/Jon Anderson collaboration/domination
- ... Howe's best work with the band. Only two keybd
- solo's on 4 sides ! Probably requires the most effort
- to really appreciate. Howe does a lengthy solo on
- Ritual that incorporates the major melodic themes
- used throughout the whole album. ]
- Going for the One [ Not the best, but one of the better albums for Squire/Wakeman ]
-
-
- Two solo albums done in 1976 (YES members at the time all recorded solo and toured
- but did not release anything as a group).
-
- Chris Squire's "Fish Out of Water" (Squire does the vocals as well). The album that
- retained the YES sound best of the solo ventures that year).
- Patrick Moraz's "I" - Heavy Brazilian influence. The inner LP dust-sleave had some
- really nice liner notes.
