  25. Costello's new album -- The Juliet Letters -- was recorded with
  26. the Brodsy Quartet, an excellent string quartet. The record, according
  27. to the liner notes, is a "song sequence for string quartet and voice."
  28. It's nothing like Imperial Bedroom. I'm not surprised he's taken this
  29. turn -- he's always stretched the boundaries of pop music. If you're
  30. expecting Punch the Clock, Spike, Mightly Like a Rose, or Imperial
  31. Bedroom, you won't find it here. I think this record will put off
  32. those types who constantly yell "Play 'Pump it Up'" during his concerts.
  33. But I don't think this foray into the classical realm is a complete
  34. career turn. I'm sure he'll be back with new music closer to the
  35. older stuff.
