- Costello's new album -- The Juliet Letters -- was recorded with
- the Brodsy Quartet, an excellent string quartet. The record, according
- to the liner notes, is a "song sequence for string quartet and voice."
- It's nothing like Imperial Bedroom. I'm not surprised he's taken this
- turn -- he's always stretched the boundaries of pop music. If you're
- expecting Punch the Clock, Spike, Mightly Like a Rose, or Imperial
- Bedroom, you won't find it here. I think this record will put off
- those types who constantly yell "Play 'Pump it Up'" during his concerts.
- But I don't think this foray into the classical realm is a complete
- career turn. I'm sure he'll be back with new music closer to the
- older stuff.
