- It is actually a TV series of 6 * 2 hour episodes, made by the Bavarian Film
- Studios outside Munich. Columbia in the US took these episodes and edited it
- down into a two hour film. The film is called 'The Boat', which is pretty
- silly as the translation of 'Das Boot' is 'The Submarine'. I have never seen
- the film, so I do not know whether it was subtitled or dubbed (the TV series
- was subtitled when showed in the UK a few years back), but I have seen a video
- for it on RCA/Columbia - it came out in the mid '80s
