  19. Well... last time I checked I spend less time in front of a CRT that the
  20. average american...

  22. Of course the average american is watching TV. Prepackaged entertainment that
  23. requires little, or no, thought on the part of the viewer.

  25. While I am using a computer, for many reasons. Ignoring legitimate school work
  26. and FTP site management, I send and receive a large quanity of email every
  27. day. I have ongoing correspondance with many people. Sometimes I write; poems,
  28. prose, or plays. I read several newsgroups, most of them related to something
  29. I'm involved with off the nets (I read several aero groups - I'm a pilot and I
  30. was an Aero major 'til I switched to writing) and I post on nearly every group
  31. that I read.

  33. This is communication, something I value. I also write snailmail letters, make
  34. phone calls, hang with my friends, whatever... 
  35.  
  36. I've just made the decision to devote time others use watching TV for something
  37. more interactive that requires more thought. And I still have plenty of time to
  38. do things with my friends in the 'real world'... At the moment I'm in a very
  39. convoluted relationship with a woman on the opposite coast, so dating is sorta
  40. hard to do...

  46. I've made many a friend after receiving mail on my writings... In fact that's
  47. how I met my current SO... So I tend to feel the nets are worthwhile.
