- Well, though I'm sure most people turn to alt.personals for the argument about
- gays, I want to see what you think of this thought I had.
-
- First, I am a white person. Second, I won't say whether I'm gay or not, that's
- quite the stupid thing to proclaim here where I go to school. Regardless, I
- have to say that, in the area of discrimination, I think today, gays suffer
- more in the long run. Granted, a black person can not hide himself as gays can
- when they feel they may be harrassed for being who they are. However, because
- they are forced to deal with racism, they, at some point in their life, find
- some way to appropriately deal with it, whatever method that may be. In
- effect,, blacks are forced to resolve for themselves that the discrimination is
- a bunch of crap and they can then move on to whatever they want.
-
- However, gay men have that choice to hide their orientation. And, trust me
- when I say gay people, who haven't reached a similar point in their lives
- concerning discrimination, will tend to hide it. This will never solve the
- problem of homophobia, it only exacerbates it. Sure, it might save you from a
- fight in the present, but I feel it's much worse for the person in the long
- run.
-
- Well, just wondering what others think about this...
