- =Rush Myth #307: He's Always Polite
- = Contrary to the whining insistence of Dittoheads, Rush Limbaugh is
- =anything but polite, either to his guests or his subjects.
- = I turned on the TV at 1:15 a.m. local time and found RL in that
- =vaunted high-ratings time slot (OK, fine, it's really the "bubba" slot, which
- =attracts either males coming off their factory shifts or males who weren't
- =successful in the local bar scene).
-
- One data point does not give you the general trend of a graph.
-
- I wouldn't call the time Rush comes on here (12N) the "bubba slot"
- around these parts. However admittedly 1:15A is the "program the stupid
- VCR to stop blinking 12:00 all the time" slot.
-
- Besides, after a night of struggling through mathematical analysis of
- cellular adhesion, it's good to have a break.
-
- = Not five seconds into watching his show and he was calling some media
- =hound "this idiot" for critiquing talk radio.
-
- What was the "idiot" criticizing Rush about? About not taking calls from
- idiots who really want him to push their "hot buttons" so they can rant
- and rage about how "he doesn't care," or he's "a bigot," or "rude to his
- guests or his subjects"?
-
- = Same old RL, I thought, as I flipped to something more interesting: a
- =test pattern set to the music of the Romantic Furs.
-
- I suggest you read a book. Less stressful on the eyes. (Unless you have
- to do homework.)

- =Dan
- =who bets that if RL had the courage to take guests, he could move into better
- =time slots
- Depends on the guests, but I think his show would go down the
- tubes like Whoopi's. I don't watch Whoopi because I think she's a better
- actress than a "talk show/couch talk" host. I don't think Rush would be
- a very good John McLaughlin-type one-on-one host either because as he
- points out, people listen to him because of his opinions, whether or not
- they agree with them.
- I don't know if you actually listen to the radio show, but if
- not, I suggest reading some of the radio summaries. The last one I saw
- was for Jan 19 93 where Rush took calls only from those who voted for
- Clinton. One of the shows last week had a very good caller who
- disagreed with Rush (who worked at HP) talking to him about
- international business.
- Rush is rude to those who are contemptuous of him or go to him
- with a "closed mind," and especially to those who want to make him look
- like an idiot.
