  20. Unfortunately, there are apparently a number of otherwise logical 
  21. and sane health care professionals who do, indeed believe in SRA.
  22. At least according to a friend of mine who is a free thinker and
  23. a psychiatric nurse.  It's scarey - but apparently it's easier to 
  24. believe (and deal with) that there's a massive conspiracy, so
  25. all the terrible acts come from a single source -- rather than 
  26. (what my perceived truth is) that any number of otherwise 
  27. respectable-seeming people enjoy sexually abusing their own
  28. and the neighbor's kids, and do so frequently and repeatedly.
  29. And set thimselves up in positions of authority (Xtian priests/ 
  30. preachers, scout leaders, babysitters, etc.), the easier to 
  31. indulge in their hobby.

  41. One way of limiting that leap of illogic is to explicitly
  42. correct it any time you see it made.  "The police arrest individuals
  43. suspected of criminal activity."  And then emphasize the criminality 
  44. of abuse, of whatever form it takes: ritual, sporadic, using the symbolism
  45. of Judeo-Crhistianity or Sesame Street.

  47. Once you've made that statement, *STOP*.  If you add anything about
  48. religious beliefs, the idiot (from _idios_, "one away from the village")
  49. will remember "arrest" + "odd religious belief" - not that you've argued 
  50. against it.
