- Hi all. I've been reading the newsgroup, and I can't help noticing there's
- some, ahh, antipathy to xchristians--esp. the fundamentalist type.
- I have an interesting view on the subject, being a member of a Chicago
- Xchristian group that worships a Goddess.
- This group is known as the Truth Missionaries of Positive Accord (as you can
- see, snappy names isn't our strong suit). Anyways, TMC+Aers believe
- it a triple Godhead of God, Goddess, and Jesus. Jesus' birth is considered
- proof of the existence of a Goddess--for GENETIC reasons. The explanation
- is basically that females only have X chromosones, and only God could
- have providede the Y chromosone needed for Jesus' birth. Since the Bible
- (they are a touch literal in this regard) bans masturbation as the Sin
- of Onan, God as a moral being could not logically commit a sin (tell that
- to Salemites, though). Soooo--a female divine being was neccessary to
- fertilize the egg to form an embryo. Said embryo was later placed in
- Mary, making Jesus both Son of God and Son of Man. We may not be hot
- at titles, but TMC+Aers are WAY good at creative theology.
- As you can see, I'm somewhat flippant; I'm not a serious member, being
- the only one in Canada, so I can basically run riot. However, I do find
- them a refreshing change from your basic Xchristian, and it helps tohave
- allies in the enemy's camp. And hey, I'm a minster from their congregation;
- this is self-interest we're talking here.
- Other theological goodies include that Jesus was raised to God level through
- intercourse with the Goddess (the true nature of the resurrection), that
- God and Goddess are composed of tachyons for them to have existed before the
- start of the Universe in order to have created it, and that the highest
- moral stance is to be true to one's own self. I'm interested in
- the reactions of the real Pagan community to such a group. Write--or flame--
- me your opinions.
