- America has abdicated morally - that is, the majority of people
- who inhabit this land have, and it's reflected above, below, and in
- between. The leaders accomplish nothing except to become celebrities
- and be seen, and, indeed, enrich themselves and their cronies without
- a thought of what is right and what is wrong, and thus largely do what is
- wrong. There are still fine words used, but mostly in the service of
- a hidden agenda of personal power and selfishness in order to justify
- and hide the latter. This is not just confined to the "leaders."
-
- You can certainly expect more of the same, only more so. However, if one
- knows what is right, one is obligated by the surety of that knowledge
- to act upon it. Frederick Douglass, the great fighter
- against slavery, pointed out that "the person who is right is a majority."
- There is great power there.
-
- In a strange way, what is to be struggled against and overcome for each
- of us as individuals, is a modern slavery which has taken form within and
- without ourselves. It takes a great deal of character not to simply be carried
- along with the flow, in essence, "assimilated."
-
- Often great and surprising events occur from the fulcrum of seemingly
- inconsequential acts of kindness and courage. Your individuality is an
- important and sacred thing so exercised upon history.
