  16. Dear Friends, A new conference : mnl.meet is now available on IGC,
  17. GreenNet etc.. This conference is an experiment to provide live
  18. exchange of ideas with the first Asian Indigenous Women's
  19. Conference being held at Baguio city - Philippines (Jan 24-Jan
  20. 30).

  22.  "BAGUIO CITY -- Indigenous women from 19 countries are converging
  23. here for the "First Asian Indigenous Women's Conference" to be
  24. held January 24-30.

  26.      The Conference is the first to be held for Asia's 150 million
  27. indigenous population.   It  opens venues for women's voices to be
  28. heard during the  UN- proclaimed  International Year  for  the
  29. World's  Indigenous Peoples,  said Victoria Corpuz.  Corpuz heads
  30. the non-government Cordillera Women's Education and Resource
  31. Center (CWERC), main host of the conference."

  33. Organisers have agreed to post daily reports, resolutions etc from
  34. this conference for others interested in these issues to
  35. participate remote (by posting on this conference). All the
  36. postings on mnl.meet will be networked daily to Baguio city
  37. conference place (with the help of GreenNet and Email Centre
  38. Manila).

  40. In addition to provide an opportunity to participate remotely we
  41. also intend to experiment with using low cost methods to provide
  42. connectivity with events taking place in third world countries.
