- I agree with you (though it is I who uses his book) that J. Sadoul is not
- the best author to look for if you want to know about the alchemical
- process. He doesn't strike me as an Adept going all out to teach the Art.
- But from reading the trilogy he wrote, I wouldn't be surprised if he knew
- more than he's willing to share.
-
- I bring up his book often because he has quoted a lot from other sources.
- And, aside from an interesting/confusing book, _Oubah_ by Jacques Breyer,
- Sadoul's book is the only one in my possession at the moment.
-
- He seems to favor Philalethes over others. In the last chapter of his
- book _Le_Tresor_Des_Alchimistes_, he describes the three parts of the Magister
- as he understands it. The first part is taken mainly from the _Mutus_Liber_.
- The second part is quoted from Cyliani's _Hermes_Devoile_ (Hermes unveiled).
- The third part is taken from Philalethes' _L'Entre_Ouverte_Au_Palais_Ferme_Du_
- Roi_ (translate this as you see fit!), starting at chapter 23.
-
- He also gives a list of minerals that might be the famed Materia Prima. Though
- he himself admits that there's no garantee you'll find the right one in the
- list.
-
- He also included a bibliography (quite complete) and a glossary of terms. If
- requested, I'll take some time to post the bibliography (alas, mostly french
- and latin books) and to translate (to the best of my capabilities) the glossary.
