  12. We are using some auto-mount config on our networked decstations with ultrix.

  14. Our home directories as defined in the passwd file are like: /home/franks
  15.  
  16. This is symbolicly linked with the real/true directory /usr/users/franks, 
  17. or /tmp-mnt/users/franks, depending on the network-machine.

  19. I would like to use "always" /home/franks and I get there when I use ~.

  21. But by default, when emacs starts up, I start with the "real" path: /users/franks.

  23. If I dired /users/franks and then dired ~, I get two different/separate 
  24. dired buffers showing the same directory. 
  25. Separate means that the dired buffer doesn't get updated if something has 
  26. changed in the other.

  28. This seems independent of the "find-file-compare-truenames" setting.

  30. Is find-file in this sense different from dired?
