- Hypnosis might be helpful, but I came upon an interesting idea about
- anxeity reading a book about psychologies based on eastern philosophy.
- Essentially, anxeity can often be the feeling of life energy that is blocked
- and is not being accepted. Rephrasing this into 'scientific' language,
- anxeity comes from your adrenal glands (and the rest of your glands) speeding
- up your metabolism without an obvious purpose or focus.
-
- As such, I tend to feel alot of anxeity around the end of the
- semester, or when an assignment gets canceled or postponed. My body produces
- the energy that I need for a heavy workload, but I don't really have any
- work to do, so I feel like I'm "running fast" and like I need to do something,
- like I must have forgotten to do something important. Simply realizing that
- this was the expression of the energy in my system, I found that I could
- recognize it and channel it into something pleasant -- like going to the gym
- and shooting some hoop or riding my bike up a big hill or dancing.
-
- Now maybe you do have a deeper level problem, and hypnosis can
- sometimes be good for uncovering things, as well as putting direct
- patches on things. My own approach to helping people is to use NLP, cognitive
- or BT interventions (whatever I feel comfortable with at the time) and I
- figure this is a good way to deal with the symptoms until somebody is
- ready to talk about the real problem, if there is one. As such, I find
- directive techniques blend in really well with evocative techniques.
