- I just wanted to say that I enjoy Shadow Project very much. It would be
- difficult not to appreciate a band whose two founding members were
- heavily involved in the early Gloom scene in LA.Since Rozz and Eva have
- always written lyrics on these subjects, and were in bands who began the
- whole anti-christ,fuck,blood, etc..themes so prevelant in Gothic music
- today,or if not began,exemplified at a VERY early stage,it would be
- unfair to fault them for using terms and images which were part of their
- style Thirteen years ago or so!
- I saw two live shows here, one which was AWFUL, at the Stone, and one
- which was WONDERFUL at One Step Beyond. So I wouldn't judge them on the
- basis of seeing one show, hearing one album.
- But,they are not for everyone. If you are really into the
- Clean,English,synthisized version of Gothic music,like late
- Cure,Siouxsie,Sisters,etc..you probably won't like them. They come out of
- the Speed Metal/45 Grave/Early Christian Death/Superheroines school of
- Gothic music. An animal of a different colour entirely...
- Incidentally,so as to prevent severe flaming, I'm not saying there is
- anything wrong with the bands I mentioned, I am merely pointing out a
- difference in style. I enjoy both styles, but the Shadow Project, etc.
- style is closer to my heart since I grew up in LA.
