  14.        about being a soldier. ROTC does not teach you to be a warrior. I saw
  15.        numerous pseudo-patriotic newbie officer types fuck-up in Saudi as to
  16.        make me fucking puke. In takes more than an American flag in one hand
  17.        and a hard-on for Ronald Reagan to survive in a shitstorm of burning
  18.        diesel fuel, immolated flesh, sand, sweat, and fear. Not to mention
  19.        incoming artillery rounds---most of which were our own, called in by
  20.        know nothing 'cruit Lieutenants like you might be someday--and you're
  21.        not even that far yet. I cleared in  June '91. An E-6. Your fucking
  22.        savior if you ever get to a real unit; do you think your Republican
  23.        Finishing School (ROTC) will teach you one piece of what you need to
  24.        know? It won't, shithead, it won't. If you think you can dismiss my
  25.        opinions, you're wrong. I have been highly decorated. I served 
  26.        honorably and was discharged honorably. I have more respect among the
  27.        rank and file than you will ever know...or understand. So if you ever
  28.        get your commission and you are driving around in your Hummvee in
  29.        Grafenwoehr, Germany in the middle of the night and its fucking
  30.        freezing and you realize you never learned how to really read a map
  31.       ...watch your back. Or swallow your bullshit, Salute the Flag, spit-
  32.       shined pride and ask someone to teach you correctly. It may prevent
