- My 'old hag' experiences come only from dreams, for some reason. But each time,
- there is a period of a few seconds where I have the slap-in-the-face or
- sudden realization feeling just before the experience starts. But in my case,
- the realization is associated with thoughts/images of a ghost or dead person
- rather than a texture as in your case.

- I wonder if this "realization" feeling is universal in experiences like this.
