- But the US Doesn't punish Sadam Husien by bombing the country; they kill
- Iraqi citizens. The theory is that the people will get fed up & overthrow
- Husien. This is unlikey given the present situation. Furthermore, the
- plan
- backfired; Instead of getting people up in arms over Husien, it's made
- Iraqi pissed of at the US. In short, it has drawn the people & regime
- closer
- together.
- If interference must be commited then I feel they should have chosen
- another
- method. If it is deemed that Husien, "Must be punished", then take out
- Husein without killing the Iraqi population. The people of Iraq didn't
- commit the atrocities. I know this goes against international law & I'm
- not necessarily advocating it, but I would have been more pleased had they
- assassinated Husien instead of bombing the people. Now before I get
- flagged
- for this comment, although I do not advocate assassinating world leaders, I
- would have chosen it in this case over the other alternative.
- I admit I have strong personal feelings on this matter becouse I have
- some close friends who are Iraqi; some of which I didn't know wether or not
- they
- were alive until after one month after the war.
- All policies have reactions. If the West, the US included, had
- observed
- diferent policies in the past then many of what is going on in the middle
- east
- today would be quite different. For example, one strong reason for the
- rise in
- fanatical Islamic movements has been a reaction to Western Imperialism.
- Iran
- is an example of this. I am a pan-arabist; I think it's time the Arab
- people
- gained control of their region; free from Western domination. I propose
- a coalition of an Arab League to solve middle eastern problems; keep the
- West
- out of it. I propose the E.C. to solve European affairs; keep North
- America
- out of it.
