- --->To add a tidbit I'd heard, the Battletech VR place in Chicago is called

- --->this IS rumor, I haven't heard anything official myself. Can anyone
- --->confirm or deny? In addition, I'd also heard that they were

- --->dinosaur, but it sounds cool!
-
- That is "Virtuality", the first true virtual reality game for the
- public. It isn't BattleTech, it is, as you mentioned, "Pterodactyl". You
- and an opponent pursue each other across a playfield, armed with grenade
- launchers. You have to shoot your opponent--BUT, every eight shot you
- make brings a pterodactyl after you.
-
- I played it here on campus about three months ago. It was pretty cool to
- think what they can do with it, but the game itself was a
- disappointment. The LCD visors were rather poor, and actual movement of
- characters was controlled by a button (intstead of actual foot
- movement). But, the arm articulation was pretty good, you turn around
- 360 degrees, you could look straight up into the sky, and you could duck
- behind objects for cover. Pretty good in some respects--disappointing in
- others.
