- I have both the 3301B and the 3401B so feel qualified to speak to
- this issue. Locally (Santa Clara, California, USA) the 3301's are
- selling for ~$350-$400 and the 3401's are going for $499. The 3401
- is Photo-CD/multisession capable right out of the box(if your CD
- driver supports this mode) but the 3301 is not. The 3301 will,
- however, read the first session of a multi-session disk or a single
- session disk. Toshiba America Disk Products Division (in southern
- Calif) offers a 'send it in, get it back in a week' firmware upgrade
- for the 3301 to make it multi-session capable for ~$90 that also
- includes new drivers (they have several available, I have Future
- Domain controller and they had drivers for it). I'm happy with
- both - the 3401 is blazing fast but appears to maybe have some
- problems with multimedia (mixed data, audio, video) stuff that I am
- currently working out with Toshiba Tech Support.
