  21. Bought a ZX81? Naah I *built* my ZX80 -- cost me #100 -- all for the 
  22. benefit of having a machine that couldn't keep the screen on when 
  23. processing data (rectified in the ZX81 with a "slow" mode that kept the 
  24. screen alive). It was amazing I wasn't diagnosed epileptic then... what 
  25. with all that screen flashing... on a "HUGE" black and white telly -- 
  26. programming six inches away from the screen because the aerial cable was 
  27. always notoriously short.

  29. It made a great 16th Birthday Present though -- then I got greedy and 
  30. manted an Acorn Atom -- anyone remember their "wonderful" video system 
  31. whereby you overlaid red and yellow to produce orange?

  33. It reminds me of Mary's favourite joke about expanding the Acorn 
  34. Electron so much that all the add-ons to turn it into a BBC Micro would 
  35. make the desk for you. (Teletext-mode adaptor, Rom Box, Disk Drive, 1MHz 
  36. Bus, Tube Interface, User Interface, joystick port... all from a poor 
  37. 8bit port hanging off the end of of a 6502 bus...
