  20. I have never really quite understood why people want the signatures
  21. of 'famous' people.  We were in Seattle once and we went by
  22. a record store and Laurie Anderson was signing records.  The line
  23. was fairly short and I rather liked her at the time, and my friend
  24. asked if we should stop.  My reaction was, "whatever for"?  She
  25. would not have the time to engage in an even remotely interesting
  26. discussion, and the signature was an odd piece of idolatry that
  27. I have never really understood.
