- <heh heh> "It's called a 'Dragon's Breath'. It's a drink I devised back in
- 1980 or so, originally for a 'Callahan's Place' hospitality suite that was
- being planned for Orycon II, a Sci Fi con still being held each year in
- Portland, Oregon. The bar never materialized, but the drink was a big hit
- with my friends. I kept the recipe a secret until this year, when I shared
- it for the first time here in Callahans."
-
- "To Mixacology and Alchemy!"
-
- He finishes off the potent drink, and tosses the glass in the fireplace. It
- explodes in a blue-white fireball.
-
- "And since that one's gone, let me show you what it is." He walks over to
- the bar. "Do you mind, Mike?" The big Irishman smiles. "Not at all, it -is-
- your drink, Jason." Jason nods and takes a place behind the bar. He places
- a couple larrge chunks of ice in a wide-mouthed glass, and pours about
- three ounces of 7-Up (lemon-lime soda) over the ice. Then he takes out a
- steel ladel, with the handle bent back 90 degrees to form a crucible. Into
- the bowl of the ladel, he pours two ounces of Bacardi 151 rum, and one
- ounce of grenadine syrup, which he stirs up. Then he lights the liquour -on
- fire- with a match. It burns with a steady, blue fire. Mike dims the
- lights, as Jason picks up the crucible and glass. Suddenly he pours a
- three-foot stream of red liquour and blue fire into the ice and mixer, and
- holds out the glass towards Magda-wolf. The ice is -BURNING-, and slowly
- going out.
-
- "Care for a taste?" he says with a grin. "The resulting drink is about 40
- proof, after flaming it. Drunk straight, like the one I had earlier, it's
- about 110 proof! I actually serve this at parties. Ask Caithelin, Feather,
- and some of the others that were at the New Years realspace in Portland.
- They liked it, and so do I. In cold weather, leave out the ice and don't
- flame it. In hot weather, or for a milder drink, flame it and add more
- mixer."
-
- Still waiting for my wolf-hug,
- Jason
