  13. of descriptions some ... ummm ... 6 months ago ... gee, was it that long? 
  14. Ah well, I'll have another go."

  16. Splash is really a VR image of his RL self ... 5'11" tall, and about 65kg
  17. (about 140-145lb), ie. medium build.  I have medium to dark brown hair,
  18. which was down to my shoulders and generally unruly until September, when
  19. I had it cut for a job interview.  It is now side-parted, revealing a high
  20. brow; there's also a growing patch of thinning hair on the top, but I
  21. can't see that part, so I don't worry about it :-) I have well-built legs
  22. and shoulders, the hallmarks of a swimmer, which reflects my interests. 
  23. I'm a PhD student (nearing completion - I think) in marine biology, at
  24. Murdoch University, Perth, Western Australia.  As regards dress, I usually
  25. wear shorts (usually black) and a t-shirt with some sort of brightly
  26. coloured aquatic motif on it), black leather sandals, and I carry a
  27. handbag (men's style wristbag), which contains any number of surprising
  28. items, and is therefore surprisingly heavy.

  30. I have a hobby interest in computers, aside from what I need for my work,
  31. although no formal training (except a BASIC programming course in
  32. undergrad).  Despite this, I'm the unofficial trouble-shooter in our
  33. department; at least, all the secretaries come to me when they have
  34. problems with their computers and software, rather than go to the official
  35. computer support person for the Uni.  I've only just started charging for
  36. my services, when I realised I was spending more time working on computer
  37. problems than marine biology!

  39. I spend my PhD time either diving for my field work, or in the lab doing
  40. awful things to marine plants.  I have my own boat, which I'm slowly
  41. turning into a floating computer laboratory - all I need now is a small
  42. power station to run all the gadgets on it :-)  My research area is
  43. seagrass ecology, and physical factors affecting marine plants.  I'm
  44. currently looking for work (real work, as in money type work).

  46. At home, I live in a de facto relationship with a psychology/statistics PhD
  47. student/assistant lecturer.  We have four kids - Lesley's two girls from a
  48. previous relationship (Jessica, 10 and Rebecca-May, 13), and our own two,
  49. Jayme, 19 months and Ashlee, 3 days.  We also have two dogs (Cavalier King
  50. Charles Spaniels).

  52. Splash is very much like my RL self, except he sometimes arrives in a damp
  53. condition, and sends soggy postcards and notes from time to time.
