- At my grade school (Topeka Lutheran, if you must know) they served something
- called a ham boat. This was a thick slice of fried bologna topped with plain
- mashed potatoes, no gravy. Later, they began serving something called a pizza
- boat, common fare in school cafeterias, which is simply pizza on french bread,
- but the image that came to our minds...
