  32. Magpie BBS (Unix and DOS) have both offered full text search capability
  33. for several years and it's without a doubt one of the most popular features
  34. with users.  One can compose multi-criteria, boolean searches like:

  36.     "show me all messages containing the string 'rap' but not the
  37.      string 'sucks' that were written after 11/15/92"
  38.      
  39. The search could be further reduced by specifying author name(s),
  40. recipient name(s) and whether or not the message contains an attached
  41. file.  It can then be further reduced to messages existing in the current
  42. thread only.

  44. I can't imagine running any kind of informational BBS without such a
  45. built-in search engine.
