- Actually, I was around about 14 or 15 months ago when this group was created.
- At the time, someone announced that it was to a vehicle for disseminating
- information about BACCHUS. This is apparently some college group which
- promotes responsible decision making about the use of alcohol. I know that
- seems a little hard to believe (considering the name of the group) but it's
- true.
-
- Of course, many folks immediately started posting about various subjects
- involving drinking, responsible or otherwise. (One thread which started going
- on and on was about people's stories of wasted but romantic nights spent
- being drunk.) The BACCHUS people waited for the rash of (what they felt
- were) misposts and then started using the group for their own purposes -
- at least a little. After a time, they must have decided that a usenet news
- group wasn't what they needed. If memory serves, the last official BACCHUS
- post was about 8 or 9 months ago.
-
- Seems to me that the group is here an unused, so if wines are what you'd
- like to talk about, enjoy. (Of course, there's always rec.food.drink, if
- you're REALLY want to debate about them, but you'll find a lot of other
- stuff there, too.)
