  23. Actually, I was around about 14 or 15 months ago when this group was created.
  24. At the time, someone announced that it was to a vehicle for disseminating
  25. information about BACCHUS.  This is apparently some college group which
  26. promotes responsible decision making about the use of alcohol.  I know that
  27. seems a little hard to believe (considering the name of the group) but it's
  28. true.

  30. Of course, many folks immediately started posting about various subjects
  31. involving drinking, responsible or otherwise.  (One thread which started going
  32. on and on was about people's stories of wasted but romantic nights spent
  33. being drunk.)  The BACCHUS people waited for the rash of (what they felt
  34. were) misposts and then started using the group for their own purposes - 
  35. at least a little.  After a time, they must have decided that a usenet news
  36. group wasn't what they needed.  If memory serves, the last official BACCHUS
  37. post was about 8 or 9 months ago.

  39. Seems to me that the group is here an unused, so if wines are what you'd
  40. like to talk about, enjoy.  (Of course, there's always rec.food.drink, if
  41. you're REALLY want to debate about them, but you'll find a lot of other
  42. stuff there, too.)
