  13.     I've read your question and a few responses, and I have a similiar  
  14. story, strict Christian upbringing (I was even an Alter Boy in my local  
  15. church) and became a Roman Catholic (to the umpteenth degree).  I later  
  16. started questioning the basis of the religion (sorry, but 50% of the Bible  
  17. doesn't hold water, and the rest is historical or "storybook" text). 
  18.     I finally decided to break off of the Christian bandwagon after I  
  19. attended a class during my freshman year here at UMCP, the class was  
  20. Philosophy, God and the Cosmos.  My proffesser was a devout athiest and  
  21. made no attempt to hide it.  I later discussed with him many of my  
  22. problems with ESTABLISHED RELIGION (sorry everybody for the harsh  
  23. vulgarities there, it was necessary).  He reccomended that I make up my  
  24. own mind by reading up on the basis of the religion and the questions  
  25. other people have published on the subject.  I was soon convinced of my  
  26. shortsightedness on the topic of religion, and became an agnostic.  Later  
  27. I decided that my doubts continued even further, and decided on athiesm.  
  28.     My current belief is that if (??) a supreme being exists, I highly  
  29. doubt that IT (not he, by the way, I doubt a supreme being has a penis)  
  30. had anything to do with any current religious literature, nor do I think  
  31. that it would be at all interested in our worshipfull nature, or in our  
  32. following a list of ten, or a hundred THOU SHALT NOT's.
