- I suspect you may have the causal relationship the wrong way round. I believe
- schizophrenia is caused by chemical imbalance in the brain, and the symptoms
- include hearing voices or hearing your own conscious or subconscious thoughts
- spoken to you. I suspect, therefore, that schizophrenics develop religion
- because of their mental illness, rather than the other way around.

- account of Dick's struggle to come to terms with his own religious
- experiences, experiences which sound much like the symptoms of mild
- schizophrenia.
