  13. posters to alt.angst frequently argue about the nature of angst, and
  14. although some points of disagreement seem permanent, most people agree
  15. that angst is what you feel in response to the realization that life
  16. sucks and really doesn't have any great design behind it. people write
  17. here about the echoes of this futility in their lives, about the pain
  18. of fighting this void, about why and how they manage to find (or
  19. create) meaning in their lives anyway.

  21. some of the stuff that's written here is deeply personal; some of it
  22. tends more toward the philosophical/analytical. sometimes people just
  23. get silly, blow off a little tension. but most of the people who hang
  24. out here take the group seriously and respect the intent behind the
  25. posts (even if they flame the posters).

  27. so along comes someone who's either an airhead or a clever imitation
  28. of one, giggling and chirping and spreading little sunshine smiles
  29. around everywhere, with an "ain't i cute?" attitude (complete with
  30. idiotic smileys). it's *damned* annoying -- i mean, if someone tells
  31. you his dog just got smooshed by a car, are you going to grab his
  32. hands and say "oh, goodie! let's go skip through the park and pick
  33. wildflowers! :)" that's verging on grounds for justifiable homicide.
  34. at the very least, it indicates a breathtaking lack of sensitivity. to
  35. persist in this behavior after being *told* it's annoying... sheesh.

  37. so either you're a jerk who thinks you're being cute, or you're an
  38. insensitive clod, or you're terminally clueless. care to enlighten us?
