  19. Welcome  to  vmsnet.internals,  a  newsgroup  for  the  discussion  of  VMS
  20. internals, VMS systems programming, and systems languages such as  MACRO-32
  21. and  BLISS-32  (and  C  and  FORTRAN,  etc.,  with  regard  to  VMS systems
  22. programming).  Typical posts could include MACRO programming problems  with
  23. syntax,  questions  about undocumented system routines, solutions to common
  24. problems, etc.

  26. This  newsgroup is gatewayed to the MACRO32@WKUVX1.BITNET mailing list.  If
  27. you'd rather read this traffic via electronic mail, you  can  subscribe  to
  28. the   mailing  list  (send  e-mail  with  the  body  SUBSCRIBE  MACRO32  to
  29. LISTSERV@WKUVX1.BITNET; this is not a "real" LISTSERV.) More information on

  36. This is a routine posting you will see from time to time on MACRO32.  While
  37. your subscription to MACRO32 is appreciated and your input welcomed,  there
  38. are a few things to remember.
  39.  
  40. First,  the use of a brief and descriptive subject header for your messages
  41. is encouraged.  A subject such as "Problem" is not very  helpful,  while  a
  42. subject  such  as  "Problem  queueing  ASTs  to  other  processes"  is very
  43. informative and useful.
  44.  
  45. Second,  if  you have posed a question to MACRO32 and have received private
  46. answers which address your problem, please post a summary of  replies  back
  47. to  the  list  or  group.  Such summary postings will be appreciated by the
  48. subscribers as they will be enabled to follow your problem and not  wonder,
  49. "What  about the post regarding...?" Also, these postings often provide for
  50. further extensions of the original question.  A suggested  summary  subject
  51. header  is the original subject preceded or followed by the word "Summary",
  52. such as "Kernel mode hints - Summary".
  53.  
  54. Third,  the  MACRO32 archives are maintained at ARCHIVES@WKUVX1.BITNET.  To
  55. get a copy of any month's postings, send an e-mail message  with  the  body
  56. SEND  MACRO32.yyyy-mm  to  ARCHIVES@WKUVX1.BITNET, where "yyyy" is the year
  57. and "mm" is the numeric representation of  the  month.   For  example,  the
  58. message SEND MACRO32.1991-05 will access the archives for May 1991.

  60. The  archive  files  are  also available via anonymous ftp from FTP.SPC.EDU
  61. (192.107.46.27) in the [.MACRO32.LISTS] directory.

  63. Fourth,  FILESERV@WKUVX1.BITNET  is  the  file  server for all list-related
  64. programs and text files.  If you have a  program  that  you  wish  to  make
  65. available,  please  forward them to MacroMan@WKUVX1.BITNET.  Once the files
  66. are in place, their availability will be announced  to  the  list.   For  a
  67. brief  list  of  all  files available, send e-mail with the body DIR ALL to
  68. FILESERV.

  71. (192.107.46.27) in the [.MACRO32] directory.

  76. for your discussion of  issues  related  to  VMS  systems  programming  and

  78. beginners and pros, I hope we can answer most questions posed.
