  17. The Division of Computing and Information Services (CAIS) of the School of
  18. Public Health has a new position (position number 36625) of computer
  19. systems administrator I (grade 66) to support the School's rapidly growing
  20. faculty/staff PC/Macintosh Network, a large ethernet-based Novell LAN.  The
  21. position will have these responsibilities:

  23. --Attach to the network new and older PCs and Macintoshes
  24.  
  25. --Test and troubleshoot network problems associated with new installations.
  26.  
  27. --Train new users in basic network functions (logging in/out, changing
  28.   passwords, connecting to printers, etc)
  29.  
  30. --Provide network management functions
  31.  
  32. --Test new hardware and software to determine suitability for specific
  33.   applications and to assure compatibility with the network
  34.  
  35. --Help with connectivity to external information sources such as
  36.   libraries, remote CD-ROM databases, Internet resources, etc
  37.  
  38. --Advise departments concerning the best ways of sharing resources,
  39.   ensuring data security, establishing standards, converting document files,
  40.   and promoting better utilization of information technology for office
  41.   automation, administration, teaching, and research
  42.  
  43. --Provide general end user support
  44.  
  45. We are seeking a service-oriented individual who can work well with our
  46. faculty and staff.  We believe there will be ample opportunity for growth
  47. for the right person.
