  24. More accurately, Ted needs religion and belief in the supernatural to confer
  25. meaning in his life. Many of us are quite capable of deriving significant
  26. meaning and purpose without those things, yet Ted seems unable to grasp
  27. that such can be done without the supernatural, therefore he, like so many
  28. other deliberately intellectually blind people, can't understand how one
  29. can find purpose and great joy in their existence all by itself.
