  12. since it is now 1993, the story thus far:

  14. 1. hitched a ride to a party and got there
  15.    directly from work at 11:15; had only a
  16.    mouthful of champagne since i was a
  17.    designated driver.  we left at 1:30,
  18.    shortly after a bunch of people arrived.
  19.    j drove us home.

  21. 2. drove j to the station at 8:00 this 
  22.    morning after being on hold for ten 
  23.    minutes by amtrak when we called to find 
  24.    out if the derailment on the chicago 
  25.    line was going to have an effect on 
  26.    the schedule.  apparently not.
  27.  
  28. 3. am having another cup of coffee, r is
  29.    puking into the toilet every 20 minutes
  30.    or so, and all is otherwise right with
  31.    the world.

  33. conclusion:

  35. if anything will incite a sports editor to
  36. beat his deadline, it will be the promise
  37. of a party waiting for him.
