  16.         a yellow crescent moon (Lance's brother Tony & his wife)
  17.      FarSide desk calendar (Lance's mother, which prompted many 
  18.         "Agnes gave you a PRESENT?" comments, matrimony
  19.         being rather important to Lance's mother)

  21. Spent the days off up in Nevada City, sleeping in Lance's brother's 
  22. living room and playing with Lance's nephews.  Got red clay on every 
  23. item of clothing I brought.  Saw my first xmas riot:  small children 
  24. pouncing on the pile of loot under the tree, hurling wrapping paper 
  25. like confetti, breaking toys as they emerge from the boxes.

  27. Lance's nephews got many objects meant to be thrown, projected,
  28. or hurled.  They got these nerf dart things-- Max the bow-style
  29. shooter, and Nick the slingshot-style shooter.  The darts were
  30. missing their fins & were broken in two by the end of Dec 26,
  31. mostly from impacts with people's heads, I think.  Next year we
  32. will buy a nerf bazooka.  Popular as SimAnt was, the bazooka
  33. should be a better choice.

  35. We missed the Stanford Theater's xmas eve showing of "It's a Wonderful
  36. Life" since we were in Nevada City instead of Palo Alto.  We went to 
  37. see the Muppet Christmas Carol on the night of xmas day.  Nice,
  38. but no substitute for Jimmy Stewart.
